The Reverse Joinder Card - Can A Defendant Remove Another Co-Defendant?

While many lawyers are familiar with the principle of adding a party to proceedings, few however know that a party can also be removed.


It is even more rare for a defendant to remove a fellow co-defendant - which is precisely what happened in this case.  



Recently, our Alvin Tang and Kang Zhen Leong managed to successfully remove a co-defendant in a suit on the ground that he is no longer a necessary or proper party to the proceeding. By doing so, we applied the principles of joinder in reverse.
